Get Rid of Those Pesky Backslashes in Munius

I am running Munius on this page and I love it.  The install was simple it set up in just a few minutes.  I even had a technical glitch and was able to get assistance from James Brausch extremely quickly.  Now I use Bluehost which has been excellent to me as the customer support has been great the entire time I have used their service.  I did bump into a problem getting rid of the backslashes in my article directory.  So what happened?

When you purchase Munius and install it you will be given a line of script you can your to shut off Magic Quotes, the directions advise you can insert that line in the bottom of your .htaccess file.  I plugged this into the file in and my website stopped working, once I deleted it, the website came back up.  I contacted Bluehost and  they advised if that line was to be pasted anywhere it would need to go into my php.ini file.  So I plugged the line in to the php.ini file and nothing happened.  Yikes! I started to wonder if I was ever going to be able to wipe out the slashes.

I forged ahead and did a little research and it seems the servers running php 5 have the setting in the php.ini file and it can easily be shut off by locating the line and changing the option to off.  I opened the php.ini file searched using the notepad find command for magic.  I located the magic setting and changed it to off.  The result?  Nothing.  By this point my patience was dwindling but I was desperate to find a way so I continued to research.

I soon realized that my subdirectory in which Munius was installed is called art.  I made a duplicate copy of the php.ini file and placed it in the art folder.  The result is any new article that is submitted no longer has the pesky slashes.  If you encounter this problem and the script does not help you then follow the same steps I did and you will be backslash free in not time!
