Have you ever thought of all of the purchases you make to enhance your internet business? I often purchase and recommend various programs, however it is fairly rare that I think of these as an investment that I should expect a return on. I was recently reading one of Robert Allen’s books called Creating Wealth where he discusses in order to get out of the poor mindest you must view all of your purchases as investments. Items like consumer goods do not return anything on your investment as they are normally used and disposed.

Now in terms of an internet business when you purchase software or hardware for that matter to increase business you should evaluate the product to determine if it will return it’s cost. It is easy to part with your hard earned money without even pondering such a thing! If I submit an article with Artemis Pro I can comfortably expect to bring in several links which increase my traffic. If I purchase an ebook I hope to gain knowledge to help enhance my business.

If you begin thinking in these terms you will begin to notice just how much junk is out there. It maybe somewhat more difficult to determine what your return is when you purchase something that saves time. Take for example my previous recommendation for the Linkomatic plugin. The item will not help me build traffic that I can convert and quantify, however, it will save me time on each post that involves the potential use of a hyper link. In order to estimate value this way I could easily time how long it would take for me to manually type in the anchor text vs just typing my entry. Remember as they always say time is money! Be careful when investing in order to help your business prosper and keep your bottom lines fat.
