What Does Customer Trust Mean to Your Internet Business

These days many site owners are out to make a quick buck and move on to the next product or service.  If you are producing products or services that are not up to snuff with what your customers expected or if you are writing about junk information on your site then you are losing the trust of your customers and will most likely crush your own business.  So what is a little trust?

In recent news, an 80 year old investment bank Bear Sterns recently had to be bought out to avoid going bankrupt because it lost the trust of its consumers.  It sounds crazy that an 80 year old firm could go out of business in just a few weeks.  The investors got spooked and lost trust, everyone pulled out their money and the bank collapsed.  The internet is no different and can actually be more difficult to build trust.  Once you have established this it must be maintained to keep your business in operation over the long haul.

Consider your name to be your brand whether it is a pen name or your real name.  Any time you put your name behind a product or service make sure that you are providing something of value.  The internet presents a certain amount of anonymity that is not present else where in the business world, however, you can strengthen your name by following this step.  The more your customers see value in your product and services the more likely they are to recommend you.  It seems like common sense, however, it is much more difficult than most think to regain the trust once it is gone so be sure to stay on top of your game by promoting items that you would use yourself!
