There is great debate amongst the Internet Marketing Community as to whether or not Google truly has a sandbox or whether new pages just take longer to rank due to mathematical algorithm. What ever the case may be it seems the newer your site or the smaller the flow of traffic the more difficult it is to get your page ranked. So how is it that you get Google to play nice in the sandbox rather than throw sand in the eyes of your site? The first step is to make sure your site isn’t practicing any black hat seo garbage.
The site presented to the search engines should not be keyword saturated in fact if it is, then you are only harming yourself. The search engines try to present honest and interesting results to the searchers otherwise why would the user continue to search using that engine? It is said that the newbie sand box period is a period of time in which a site must prove it’s worth to the web. It makes sense really even though most of us do not want to hear it. Make up for this by continually presenting informative content to all possible viewers.
The other key piece is to write articles as much as possible. The faster you can honestly build your links the faster your site is indexed and the sooner it is likely to be viewed as viable for ranking, please be aware though that the links you build in the first few months may be some what devalued as they can also be considered as part of this sandbox. Do not be frustrated as once your site is ready to be ranked all of this work will be taken into consideration so that your first ranking is a high one. Consider it a test to see what sort of stamina you have, write your articles, create comments, and join those blog carnivals to prepare to climb out of the sandbox and join the ranks of the big kids. It is possible, my first blog took almost 6 months however, when I finally received my page rank it was a nice repayment to the time I spent plugging away. Check out a great little case study to see just how this is done at Courtney Tuttle’s site courtneytuttle.com/2008/03/28/keyword-sniping-case-study-update/
