When you look over your blog do you ever wonder what it is that you could improve? Why not take an analytical business approach and run a S.W.O.T analysis on your business? If you are not familiar with this tool…no problem. It simple stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Many major business both online and bricks and mortar use this approach to analyze their business standings.
Get started by taking a look and jotting down your strengths. Are you proficient in online marketing? Are you producing high quality products? You may find that you undervalue your business. Performing this piece of the analysis should give you a mental boost when it comes to progress you have made in the time your business has been up and running.
The next piece may be a little painful at first however, it will help you strengthen your weakest links. Where are your weaknesses? Are you posting infrequently? Are you producing enough products? Is your article writing campaign building backlinks? Each weakness recorded is also a chance to enhance your current business plan so be certain to be as thorough as possible.
On to opportunities, you may notice that many of your businesses weaknesses can be transformed into opportunities. In addition, take the time to look outside the box on this one. Can you expand the realm of your products? Can you shift from offering products to services? Are you missing out on reaping a profit by marketing to a small niche of people? Are there other forms of marketing you can implement? The more questions you ask yourself the more opportunities may arise.
The last piece is to take a look at threats. Are there others out there with blogs just like yours? Are you losing out on customers? Have you pigeon holed yourself into a market that is unprofitable? If you are using pay per click can you sustain the current cost in comparison to the profit you are seeing? The more aware you are of the threats that surround you, the more prepared you will be as you face them. Repeat each of these steps every few months to make sure your blog stays in the game!
